The Ducks are not just retooling on the field; they are quite literally building around it.

Defensively, Oregon returns key pieces but must replace production along the front seven. Lanning, a defensive-minded coach, has emphasized physicality and tackling precision throughout Week 1. The secondary, which struggled at times last season against elite passing attacks, faces an uphill climb as they prepare for Big Ten offenses that will test them in different ways than they saw in the Pac-12.
